There is nothing like a good classic guacamole to eat with some good patacones, tostones, or potatoes. In this recipe, we add a little spice to give it that extra flavor. Enjoy it with a good cold beer.

Ingredients

  • 3 avocados (ripe)

  • 3 plum tomatoes

  • 1 white onion (may substitute with yellow or red onion)

  • 3 green scallion onions

  • 1 lime

  • 1 cilantro bunch

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 habanero peppers

  • Utensils
  • 1 big bowl

  • 1 knife

  • Cutting board

  • 1 fork for mashing the avocado (or wire masher)

  • 1 wooden spoon or large spoon

  • 1 lime squeezer

Recipe Instructions

  • Make sure your avocados are ripe so you can mash them easily.
  • Cut the avocados in half and remove the seed. Place one seed in your bowl to keep your avocado from turning brown.
  • Cut the avocado halves in half and remove them from the skin using a spoon. Place the avocado in your bowl.
  • Cut the avocado into small pieces inside the bowl to make mashing them easier.
  • Add a pinch of salt and the juice of one lime.
  • Mash the avocado using the form or wire masher until all the avocado is smooth (you may want to not mash the avocado as much if you prefer your chunky guacamole).
  • Cut the onion in small pieces (as small as possible unless you prefer chunky guacamole) and add to the bowl.
  • Mix the onion with the avocado. Add another pinch of salt.
  • Now, cut the tomatoes into small pieces and add to the bowl and another pinch of salt (again, you may leave a little larger if you prefer chunky guacamole).
  • recommend tasting the avocado mix at every step to ensure you add the amount of salt you like.
  • Cut the cilantro, this time cut it in small but not-so-small pieces so you can see it on your guacamole. The cilantro will add color and flavor to your guacamole.
  • Taste your guacamole and add salt to taste, if needed.
  • If you like your guacamole spicy, cut the habanero pepper into very small pieces and mix it with your guacamole. Make sure you mix it well so that the pepper is well distributed and you don’t have areas that are very hot.
  • Your homemade guacamole is now ready! Serve with tostones, potatoes, tortillas, or your favorite Mexican dish.
  • Enjoy!
